In 1960, a group called The Voice of Women was formed in reaction to the deployment of 56 Bomarc missiles in Ontario and Quebec. The movement snowballed. Failure to Comply - UN Weapons Inspections

Forty-four United Nations weapons inspectors, including five Canadians, have been taken hostage in Iraq. The team was investigating documents on Iraq's nuclear program before being gathered and held in a downtown Baghdad parking lot. Nearly three days after being detained, there is a breakthrough in negotiations between the United Nations and Iraq, although the hostages are prepared to endure the long haul.
