Joseph Alfred Heenan servit dans la Royal Navy pendant la Première Guerre mondiale et dans la Marine royale du Canada pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Son plus grand défi s'avéra en 1942-1943 lorsque des sous-marins allemands s'aventurèrent dans les eaux canadiennes, dont le fleuve Saint-Laurent. A New Mission
