An activity to help students understand the role and experiences of the Canadian soldier during the Korean War. It includes ideas for assignments as well as references to media resources.

In the role of a soldier, students write journal entries about daily life on the front. The purpose of this exercise is to help students understand and write from differing viewpoints.

Using a variety of Web-based resources, students will analyze and prepare a presentation comparing recognition of war veterans in Canada to recognition of war veterans in another country of their choice.

Students write positions on whether Canadian soldiers should be held to a higher standard than people in other professions.

Presents an educational activity for senior high school students involving similarities and differences between the reports of Matthew Halton, reporter and war correspondent during the Second World War, and news reports from the 2003 war in Iraq. Provides an introduction, purpose, tasks, process and links to WWII CBC media clips as well as news reports from the 2003 war in Iraq.

This classroom activity allows students to explore the roles played by Canada’s prime ministers The Right Honourable Sir Wilfrid Laurier and The Right Honourable William Lyon Mackenzie King with regards to the conscription crises of World War I and World War II.

Louis Riel has been interpreted differently by different groups and individuals at different times in our history. Poems, books, plays, and songs have been created to explain Louis Riel. The diverse images of this man have always reflected the politics of the times and they continue to do so. This educational activity prompts the question, "Who was the ‘real' Louis Riel?"

Students are encouraged to understand Canadian soldiers' contribution to the Korean War and the importance of recognizing this by preparing a brief to the federal government.

The following activities are intended for use in conjunction with the Who Will Remember Us? booklet, which outlines the contributions that women and women’s organizations have made in Atlantic Canada.

The role of Canadian peacekeepers and peacekeeping is discussed in this teachers' guide. Topics include history, purpose; functions and tasks, and past and present missions. Links to a class activity titled Postcards for Peace are included.
