The Avenger was capable of carrying 2000 lbs of bombs or torpedoes at 270 mph. This carrier based aircraft made a major contribution to the outcome of the Second World War. The photograph shows an anti-submarine varient flown by 881 Squadron. In 1946, a red maple leaf replaced the central red circle in the Canadian aircraft markings. (DND, CT 825)
